The study demonstrates the value of PSSS acquisition that goes beyond just prehospital notification. Perhaps it reflects higher quality of prehospital care or involve unmeasured confounders such as better communication of collateral info and may be an important target for QI. .

Our study found that presence of Prehospital stroke severity scale (PSSS) documentation in the field was associated shorter DTP after eliminating potential confounders, even though the presence of PSSS did not routinely alter the Neuro-endovascular workflow . .

If the patient screens positive on the stroke screening tool, EMS personnel are encouraged to administer a prehospital stroke severity scale (PSSS). In our region the recommended PSSS is a modified RACE (mRACE) score (modified to score both Aphasia and Agnosia) or NIHSS

When EMS personnel suspect an acute stroke in the field, they routinely perform a validated stroke screening tool such as CPSS.

Excited to share our study showing acquisition of PSSS was associated with a significant reduction in Door-to-puncture (DTP) times among patients presenting directly to a thrombectomy center. But what is a PSSS and why it may be important. .
