The Greens will keep fighting to make price gouging illegal and make big corporations pay their fair share of tax so we can invest into social supports. We invite Labor to join us.

Unlike the PM the Greens believe governments need to do more, not less, to address growing economic inequality and climate and environmental destruction. These challenges will not be solved by big corporations whose only agenda is to increase their profits.

The PM has today offered up a future where he cosies up to price gouging corporations to the detriment of ordinary people, climate and the environment. It’s no surprise that he chose a News Corp event to do this and that the Nationals have enthusiastically backed it in.

It is deeply disappointing that the Prime Minister’s outline of his economic agenda today is a love letter to the Liberal party’s economic worldview.

This is an important step towards much needed and long awaited reform, but all discrimination must be removed from Australia’s blood donation framework.

For years the Greens & LGBTQIA+ community have called for the lifting of discriminatory restrictions for queer folk trying to donate. We welcome the changes to the eligibility criteria for plasma donation, bringing us closer in line with similar reforms in the UK, US, Canada & NZ.

Your eligibility to donate plasma or blood shouldn’t be determined by your sexuality or your gender.

That means sanctions on Israel’s industrial war machine. It means sanctions on Netanyahu and his entire cabinet. That means ending the sale of military hardware to Israel, and doing everything we can to end the genocide, the illegal occupation and the apartheid.

Australia’s decision to sanction Ben-Gvir and Smotrich is a small step that will achieve little without far stronger action. If we’re serious about justice for Palestine and ending the genocide, this must be the beginning not the end from Labor.

This is the deliberate shooting of an Australian journalist by US authorities. It is completely unacceptable and must be met with the strongest possible response from the Australian government.

When the US President is willing to deploy the Marines against his own people, attack the media, and intimidate opponents, Australia needs to act. We need to end the disastrous AUKUS deal and structurally distance ourselves from their military.

Trump’s decision to call in soldiers against people protesting his illegal deportations is a worrying escalation from a president who is clearly willing to use the military to stifle dissent.

It's unacceptable that the Freedom Flotilla has boarded by the Israeli army. All because they are peacefully delivering much needed food & aid to Gaza. We demand safe passage of the Madleen in international waters. Anything less will be a crime. The world is watching.

And very excited to inherit the LGBTIQA+ portfolio from the amazing ✨Stephen Bates ✨. So much to do and I look forward to working with some of Australia’s most powerful change-makers to finally end discrimination against queer folks and right some of the wrongs of the past.

Also stoked to retain the Forests portfolio. Logging native forests in the middle of climate breakdown and ecological collapse is absolute public policy stupidity. I was arrested defending Tasmania’s forests in 1986 and will fight hard to bring an end to native forest logging.

Greens portfolios are out! A couple of old favourites and a shiny new one for me. Very happy to have retained Treasury/Economic Justice. We will keep fighting for corporations and wealthy people to pay their fair share of tax so more can be done to support people who need it.
