Treasury secretary admits in

that Treasury hasn't done any modelling on the economic costs or benefits of net zero by 2050, or indeed any modelling of climate change-related impacts on the Australian economy. None at all, in the past several years.
The govt seems to be relying entirely on DISER and McKinsey modelling, and Treasury has no oversight, and has done no checking, or studied broader economic impacts.
For years Morrison and Frydenberg have been making false claims about the costs of acting on climate change. Today we discovered that in all that time they’ve never asked Treasury to model the actual impacts. Says it all.

Of course... the govt has known all along what the modeling would show, so best to avoid Treasury. Besides, you have much greater control over what external consultants will produce. 😉

No wonder the LNP are reluctant to expose their modelling on the economic costs, because as the Emperor with no clothes paraded through the streets there is no modelling!
