CHARGE | Martin Ward, aged 52 of no fixed abode, has been charged with five counts of theft and one count of breaching a criminal behaviour order following his arrest by Newquay Neighbourhood officers yesterday. He is due to appear at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court today.

After a recent spate of burglaries and thefts in Newquay 4 persons have been arrested, charged and remanded to court. All 4 have also been bailed for several other offences which are still currently under investigation.

Unfortunately, we have had a burglary, attempted burglary and thefts from sheds reported to us over the past few days. We are working on identifying the offenders but ask, if you have noticed someone acting suspiciously in your area and have CCTV footage, please forward it to us.

It has been identified that grass verges next to pavements and hedges are primarily targeted due to @CornwallCouncil not currently servicing them, this enables the fouling to be hidden from view. If you have a dog and walk in these areas, please be responsible.

@CornwallCouncil have introduced a Dog Fouling Public Spaces Protection Order that covers all of Cornwall and runs until October 2023.

Failure to clean up after your dog has fouled will result in a fixed penalty being issued, this is for £100 or prosecution where, if found guilty, £1000 as a maximum. This is anti social and unfair on the families who have it on their doorstep.

The offender, who was in the company of the victim, was arrested for the domestic offences. Hidden inside the footwell of the vehicle was a dog believed to be a banned breed, the dog has been seized for assessment. Good team work by all units to bring this incident to a safe end.

Today we were involved in the arrest of a High Risk Domestic Offender from another force area, the offenders vehicle was intercepted and followed by @DC_RPT whilst ourselves, @NewquayResponse and @CornwallDogs attended the location to provide assistance.

ELLIOTT attended TRURO Crown Court yesterday and was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment for each assault suspended for 2 years, he is also subject to a Restraining Order with conditions to prevent him subjecting his vulnerable victims to further harassment and harm.

He has been released until May 5th pending pre sentence reports. He is also subject to a life time ban from all establishments that hold membership of Newquay Pub Watch, a scheme that works closely with Newquay Police to prevent this type of behaviour on licensed premises.

Today, following an investigation carried out by Newquay Police, Peter John Elliott, 58, of Newquay, has been found guilty at Truro Crown Court on two counts of ABH by biting members of Newquay Royal British Legion.

We are aware of speculation on social media about some people not feeling safe in Newquay. The number of reports to police do not reflect this and if you have been affected by specific incidents, we would encourage you to report these to the police.

Yesterday a local officer managed to disrupt the theft of a car out on patrol in a unmarked Police vehicle. Later on colleagues from the BTP assisted with the arrest of one of the suspects. Today the other suspect was also arrested in Newquay. #NeighbourhoodPolicingCornwallIOS

This evening 24/01 we have received reports of a window being smashed and property taken from a vehicle parked in Watergate Bay and 2 vehicles Taken Without Consent from Fistral. The 2 TWOCs left their keys in 'secure' lock boxes, one vehicle has been recovered. @NewquayInsp.

Please make sure you do not leave your keys anywhere in or around your vehicle. We are seeing an increase in opportunists locating the key on or around the wheels or by forcibly removing key safe boxes.
