Future upgrades include exoskeletons, logistic drones, robotic mules, cyber-EW suites & per-soldier nano drones-aligned with Viksit Bharat by 2047 and Atmanirbhar Defence.

The battlefield is going digital. Secure radios, soldier computers, GPS/NavIC, EW sensors, anti-drone jammers & real-time maps now allow squads to fight as fully networked combat teams.

India has achieved a massive leap in night warfare dominance: Over 1.25 lakh thermal imagers, 15,000+ launcher sights & 5,000 MMG thermals now give Indian troops a decisive edge on the LAC & LoC.

Weapons are also evolving. The Army is inducting multi-caliber rifles (5.56/7.62/6.8mm), air-burst grenade launchers, thermal sights & laser range-finders, with lighter DRDO rifles replacing INSAS.

Soldiers are being equipped with Level-IV helmets, thermal + night vision fusion, HUD displays, shoulder cameras, tactical headsets & NBC sensors, giving 24/7 combat visibility and survivability in extreme conditions.

At the core is C4ISTAR integration; Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Targeting & Reconnaissance. Every soldier is now both a shooter and a real-time battlefield sensor.

Conceived in 1994 under Infantry Vision 2020, F-INSAS aims to turn every soldier into a self-contained digital fighting unit. Weapons, protection, sensors, and communications are now fused into one integrated combat system.
