TL;DR:. Armada Hot Shot = feels guilty because he had to leave his friend behind.Micron Legend Hot Rod = feels guilty because he left his friend for dead with no real intention of coming back to save him until the last minute.

Hot Shot still runs in at the very last minute to save Wheeljack, but it's slightly different in the two shows. Armada makes it sound like it was a desperate rescue attempt, while a few pieces of dialogue in Micron Legend sorta imply that it was half rescue, half suicide attempt.

The "Past" two-parter in Armada is a million times more depressing when you realize the dub removed the fact that Hot Shot INTENTIONALLY left Wheeljack behind. Armada makes it sound like it was an accident, but Micron Legend makes it explicitly clear Hot Shot used it as an excuse

He's the voice of Vector Prime in Galaxy Force!. he's also the narrator, if you care about that sort of thing.
