These results show the use of cell therapy intervention for a large animal model of TBI and highlight the potential of macrophage-based therapy. This is promising, given that TBI affects >3 million in the US annually, with no current therapies beside acute symptom management.

Excited to share the 2nd part of my thesis! We demonstrate that macrophages attached with anti-inflammatory particles ("backpacks") infiltrate into the brain after traumatic brain injury and reduce lesion volume by 56%. @SMitragotri @hseas @wyssinstitute
