Whether you are a driver or a passenger, always use the #DutchReach when exiting a vehicle. By opening your car door with your farthest hand, your body will naturally turn and look out for any approaching cyclists. #ScanTheStreetForWheelsAndFeet

As a matter of practice, we suggest that residents do not place checks into blue USPS mailboxes, or in the outgoing mail from your residence. The only secure way to mail checks is to physically walk them into the post office. There is no more information at this time.

Additionally, checks contain your personal information and your bank account number – this information can easily be sold online if one of your checks falls into the wrong hands.

The Needham Police Department is communicating with the US Postal Inspectors Office and the matter is currently under investigation. Checks that are stolen from the mail are washed, re-written, and deposited into various bank accounts by criminals.
