Allergy related child fatalities happen more in school than any other setting. Tomorrow, I will be tabling the Schools (Allergy Safety) Bill to try and change that. I’m calling for schools to have an allergy policy, for staff to undergo allergy training, and for spare AAIs.

A takeaway restaurant served a "nut-free" curry to a man with a severe nut allergy - it contained 4 types of nuts. He went into anaphylactic shock. Staff had no allergy training. Another case highlighting why mandatory allergen training is urgently needed.
