In 1962, after the government acquired the Karwan land, a new site was allotted in Shivarampally. The organization was relocated there, continuing as Aram Ghar. Because of the facility’s prominence, the Shivarampally area became popular as Aram Ghar.

67. Aramghar: Literally “rest house.” In 1957, social worker Roda Mistry established an organization in the Karwan area of Hyderabad to support mentally challenged and destitute individuals, providing them shelter and care. This facility was initially called Aram Ghar.

66. Czech Colony: After Czech Republic. When the Bren Gun (Brno-Enfield) factory was set up in Hyderabad during the Nizam period, Czech engineers were brought in to make gun parts. A special colony of 50+ bungalows was built to accommodate the engineers from Czech.

65. S R Nagar (Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar), after Sri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy who served as the President of India from 1987 to 1982. He lived in this area in late 1960s. It was previously known as Gurumurthy Nagar.

Etymology of various localities of Hyderabad – Thread #5 63. Jubilee Hills: Derives its name from the silver jubilee celebrations marking the reign of Mir Osman Ali Khan in 1937. The area was subsequently developed as a residential colony to commemorate the occasion.

Bengaluru city corporation has decided to pay ₹250 to anyone who records & shares videos of people throwing garbage in public places . Videos can be shared via WhatsApp and an app. A parallel campaign is in place to return garbage to the doorstep of litterbugs & impose fines.

My first encounter with bribery: LLR test, 2012. Policeman: “Pay ₹100, I’ll take it for you.” Me: “If I fail, I fail.” Irony? I didn’t even complete the test. I got every answer right till Q13 and literally passed mid-way.

Every Thursday, the Tiruppavada Seva is performed at Tirumala. Lterally meaning “a holy offering before the Lord,” during this ritual, the moola virat is divested of all ornaments, and the tirunamam (forehead mark) is reduced in size.

A young mother dies suddenly. Father decides to hide it from his only daughter in the US, fearing visa issues. Relatives convince him. She arrives after 2 days, breaks down, and then hunts for a WiFi for her interview scheduled on that day. Heartbreaking, but this is life!
