Session with @ClaireAVarley @NelsonClassroom on CRRP: • Know thy learner - as a whole person, not just diagnosing learning levels • “Not about us, without us” - ❎ avoid tokenism by writing with members of a community (Indigenous, Black Canadians, LGBT etc.) #wfmp

On effects post-pandemic: • less attention span and social skills • avoidant behaviour (of school/mental work) • Attendance issues (even adults are fighting back-to-office) Indigenous students in Catholic schools, there are sensitive subjects/history to cover #wfmp2022

Aftermath of Traumatic Events from @niagaracatholic presenters: • teachers want to look for observable behaviours, but so much is happening underneath • saying, “God doesn’t give someone more than they can bear” - although well intentioned, doesn’t help them in the situation

Yesterday, we arrived at the When Faith Meets Pedagogy Conference (@cccwfmp) in Toronto! 🎉 @NelsonSteveB shared opening remarks and discussed our collective obligation to learners and how educators can Create Possible in their classrooms. 📚 #WFMP2022 #WFMP

The thing people often don’t talk about in teaching is how much of it is a performance. No matter what’s going on in your life you stand up in front of those kids and perform and if you’re ill or something challenging is going on in your personal life, that’s exhausting.

Yep. Wasn’t until I saw behind-the-scenes with my teaching high school Science that I knew how much effort/energy/thought goes into it ♥️

People don't really understand what teachers do. Since every adult has been to school, they assume they understand and they think it's easy. Show up five days a week for six hours a day, talk for a while, and go home early. Nothing could be further from the truth. #onted

After two years of pandemic disruptions, nothing matters more than kids being back in classrooms, on time. That's why Ontario's #PlanToCatchUp starts with #students back in class #learning the #skills they need for the #jobs of tomorrow. Learn more: https://t.co/R8JxxEHDM2

Hey #OntEd can you RT this thread; I am seeking recommendations. I have this great idea of how I want to start off the school year with my students, but I feel like I am lacking the knowledge of how to even begin planning for this idea. 😮‍💨 #TeacherTwitter
