We gathered at the 67 Precinct with the Community Affairs Bureau, colleagues, and family to honor Police Officer Thomas Podd with the Assistant Chief Patrick D. Brennan Cop of the Year Award. A proud moment recognizing his dedication, compassion, and service to our city.

It was an honor to meet Rafael Martinez and hear about his journey from Explorer to Auxiliary and now Assistant School Safety Agent. His dedication and professionalism exemplify the best of the NYPD and inspire the next generation of officers and agents.

Fifty-five years ago, Probationary Patrolman Patrick Canavan, just 21, made the ultimate sacrifice while taking off-duty action to stop a fight. Today, we honored and celebrated his legacy, which continues to inspire our service each day.

Today we celebrated NYPD members of all ranks who retired this year — dedicated men and women who served with pride and strengthened the department through their example. Thank you for your service and for inspiring those who will carry the mission forward.

At the NYPD Police Academy, recruits joined members from across our fraternal organizations to celebrate unity, service, and shared purpose. Fraternal Day reminds us that the strength of this department lies in the diversity and dedication of its people.

26.2 miles was a walk in the park for NY's Finest! Congratulations to all the NYPD runners who finished this year's Berlin Marathon, including our very own @NYPD1stDep. Congrats on bringing the gold from Berlin back to the five boroughs.
