Showers and thunderstorms continue through Tuesday. Conditions also start to warm up from Tuesday onward, along with drier conditions Wednesday and Thursday.

Many locations stayed dry today as the main energy and deep moisture slid just to the southwest; however, intermittent chances for showers/storms will linger through Tuesday before the system shifts to the east. Heavy rain is possible near the AR and TN borders in SEMO/west KY.

Rainy and stormy weekend ahead and continuing into next week. Areas further south will see more rainfall than areas further north. Rainfall totals between now and Tuesday afternoon will range from 0.25-0.5 inches up north to 2-3 inches down south.

A frontal boundary will linger nearby through early next week, bringing cooler temperatures and unsettled weather for the Quad State area. Shower chances will return tonight into Sat before becoming more numerous showers and storms arrive by late Sat night through Tue.

A low pressure system and associated frontal boundary will approach the Quad State area tonight, bringing an increase in cloud cover along with increasing chances for showers and a few thunderstorms. The best chance will be west of the Mississippi River.

Cooler temperatures will continue this weekend into next week. Shower chances will return tonight into Saturday, with numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms by late Saturday night through Tuesday. The highest rainfall totals will be over southeast Missouri.

Our region has observed an insane amount of tornadoes this year, now ranking 3rd most for any year on record. Over 550 miles of tornado tracks shattered the previous record for tornado miles in a single year. Nine EF-3’s is the most strong tornadoes in a single year since 1957.

Cooler temperatures will linger into next week as conditions become more unsettled. Rain chances will return Fri night into Sat, with numerous showers and scattered storms still expected by late Sat night through Mon. Heavy rainfall is expected with localized flooding possible.

Dry with below normal temperatures through Friday. Cooler than normal temperatures will continue through the weekend into next week, but rain chances return Friday night into Saturday, with numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms by late Saturday night through Monday.

NWS damage survey finds two brief EF-1 tornadoes occurred in the early morning of May 20, 2025. The first tornado impacted the north side of Cape Girardeau, MO. The second tornado did damage in the far eastern part of Union County, IL.

Dry weather conditions will continue through the end of the week, followed by more unsettled weather this weekend with numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms.

Except for some isolated showers and storms in southeast Missouri and far west Kentucky tonight, mainly dry conditions can be expected today through Friday. Numerous showers will return for the weekend, along with a chance for some thunderstorms.

The tornado watch has been cancelled for our forecast area (southeast MO, southern IL, far west KY and far southwest IN)! Still have some lingering isolated storms moving through SEMO and approaching western KY/far southern IL this evening. Skies will clear overnight.
