The weather turns rainy and breezy late Thursday and into Friday with most areas likely seeing over an inch of rain with localized amounts up to 3 inches. It's possible the rain may be coming to and end by trick or treat time in some areas, so don't completely cancel plans yet.

It looks like we are in for a soaking rain event Thu into Fri, combined with breezy winds gusting around 30-35 mph. The severe drought across the region will keep any flood risk at a minimum, apart from leaf clogged storm drains. Use this time to prepare. #nhwx #mewx

Halloween forecast update: Our latest forecast has most of the steady rain falling Thursday night into the first part of Halloween. That said, there could still be some showers around during trick-or-treating festivities along with it being cool and breezy. #nhwx #mewx

We have been hearing reports of graupel in some of the showers out there! Taking a look at this morning's sounding, the freezing level (highlighted) is only around 3000 ft. The drops start as snow and collect super cooled droplets on the way down, resulting in a frozen pellet.

Something spooky may be brewing around Halloween. There is still some uncertainty in what this system is going to look like as well as exact timing, but this is a good forecast period to keep an eye on so you don't get tricked if you're going to be outdoors. #MEwx #NHwx

Long-awaited soaking rain fell this week, and it is already starting to make a difference. This rainfall provides a short-term reprieve, but much more is needed for substantial drought relief including groundwater recharge. #nhwx #mewx
