Still dealing with some wintry weather early this morning across parts of the NC mountains and foothills, but the precip should move out by early afternoon. Watch out for some slippery spots on area roads!

Most of the snow and ice accumulations will be light, but temperatures will be below freezing for a longer period of time across the areas in a Winter Weather Advisory, leading to higher ice totals.

Precipitation will gradually transition to rain as temperatures warm Friday morning, with the exception of elevations above 3500' in the northern mountains and Blue Ridge Escarpment.

[5:55PM 12/4] Precipitation starts across the area later this evening into the overnight. Forecast still shows wintry precipitation beginning as a mix of snow/sleet/freezing rain across the mountains and along/north of I-40 in western NC. Cold rain is expected elsewhere.
