A Bering Sea storm brings strong winds Fri & Sat. Many locations will see 2 rounds: first with the front, and again as winds wrap back around the low. Winds may also be enhanced through terrain gaps. For the Kuskokwim Delta, onshore flow will lead to higher coastal water levels.

A parade of fall storms will move in through early next week. The strongest winds and heaviest rain will likely remain in the Bering/Aleutians. However, we’re monitoring the potential for enhanced winds through terrain gaps, and for high surf/coastal flooding in Southwest AK.

The Flood Watch for Skilak Lake & Kenai River is cancelled. HOWEVER, the threat of a glacier-dammed lake (GDL) outburst is not over. The latest data shows this event likely wasn't caused by Skilak GDL, which means the GDL may still release this fall. Here's what you should know.

A Flood Watch has been issued along the Kenai River downstream of Skilak Lake through Sun for a potential release of Skilak Glacier Dam Lake. Flooding of low lying areas and boat dock issues are possible in the Kenai Keys as water levels crest Fri or Sat near 12 ft. #akwx

A new proposal from @CMSgov under @DrOz wants to add catheters, ostomy & trach supplies to Medicare’s competitive bidding program. This is a bad idea and will worsen outcomes for seniors & Medicare recipients. My latest in @MedPageToday explains why ⬇️

Labor Day Weekend will see mostly cloudy skies, light winds, and seasonable temperatures for much of Southcentral. However, recent rainfall has caused rivers to rise to capacity across the region. Use caution if near or on water ways this weekend. Light rain chances increase Sun.
