We’ve been getting this question a lot lately. Until something different comes directly from Northeastern, fans should expect both hockey teams and the men’s basketball team to still be playing their home games this Fall at Matthews Arena.
@NUHockeyBlog We understand that Matthews is closing down. Are men's hockey playing any games there this fall before it's torn down?.

It was suspected but Harvard’s schedule release confirms the exhibition game against NU will be 7pm on October 18th.

Mentions NU as a contender for ‘09 forward Finnegan Sears. The Medford native starred at The Rivers School and will play for the NTDP the next two years. Harvard and BC also mentioned as in the running for Sears.

Hearing that ‘07 forward Cole Chandler has committed to Northeastern. The Nova Scotia native was a 5th round selection of the Boston Bruins in the 2025 NHL Draft. 13-19-32 in 64 games for Shawinigan of the QMJHL last year. He will return to Shawinigan next season.

For the BU finale: . Less than 40 tickets remain. Exactly 10 seats in the balcony left. For the Denver game: . A handful of front-row balcony seats remain. 21 balcony seats left. Less than 200 left total in the whole building.

Former Northeastern forward Tyler Madden has signed with the Straubing Tigers of the DEL for next season after playing in the AHL for 5 seasons. Madden was a second team All-American as a sophomore and was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team as a freshman at NU.

Part of Brad's arms race talk here is that with WMU building a new arena, every NCHC arena will have been built or renovated since Duluth in 2011. For Hockey East that mark is even more recent, Providence's 2013 renovation. The new arena will be huge for NU.
NCAA hockey has been in an arms race for two decades now as teams have battled for recruits. In doing so, it has blown past the CHL in development infrastructure. This has been missing from the Gavin-McKenna-to-NCAA discourse. Column:
