Double adapting, plugging boards into boards, daisy-chained boards – don’t do it. Its the leading cause of house fires in winter!. Avoid hazards and stay safe this winter by checking set ups, not overloading power boards and make sure cords are untangled.

Today we farewelled Commissioner Rob Rogers AFSM after 45+ years of service, starting as a volunteer in 1979. He left under a guard of honour, saying “The strength of the RFS lies in its people.” Also retiring, AC Stuart Midgley after 50+ years. #RFS

With significant rainfall occurring across the NSW coast, #RFS crews have continued to support the @NSWSES with storm and flood damage. As many dams near 100% capacity, @WaterNSW has advised several are currently spilling, with Warragamba Dam expected to spill later today.

#RFS firefighters have been kept busy overnight, supporting @NSWSES responding to 141 incidents since 6pm. Half of these were in the Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands. A Severe Weather Warning remains in place for coastal areas. Visit the SES website for updated warnings.

Winter is the time for fluffy blankets and cozy dinners, but don’t leave that stove alone!. With more than half of all house fires starting in the kitchen, unattended cooking is the number one cause.

The last few weeks saw some of our #RFS members undertaking Helicopter Insertion Technique training in anticipation for their assessments. Helicopter Insertion Technique allows for our members to be deployed to the most remote of areas to manage fire activity when required.

This morning, an additional 18 #RFS personnel have been deployed to Alberta, Canada to help local firefighters battling over 290 wildfires. Over 100 of which still remain out of control. They were farewelled at the airport by Deputy Commissioner Ben Millington.

Today, the finalists for the 2025 Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards were announced by Jihad Dib, the #RFS has 4 finalists this year. We wish the best of luck to our finalists with the winner announced later this year.

For the second year running, the NRL Emergency Services match brought the community together to recognise the incredible work of emergency service personnel. It was fantastic to see #RFS members honoured, with nearly 300 of our volunteers proudly marching onto the field.

Arriving in the USA earlier this month the #RFS 737 Large Air Tanker is continuing operations alongside @CAL_FIRE .As fire activity increases in California the 737 will continue to assist local firefighters until mid-July, before returning to Sydney. 📷Csmeadphotography

Tathra Brigade was assisting their neighbouring brigades in Bega during the 2018 fire season when fire threatened their own town. Even though the resulting destruction was devastating, it did little to dampen the resolve of this tight-knit brigade.
