In recent weeks, #RFS firefighters have been called to multiple grass and crop fires burning across the state. Tragically, these incidents have led to substantial losses for farming communities, with hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of crops being destroyed.

Firefighters are working to extinguish a rubbish fire on Ashfords Road in Gregadoo, south east of Wagga Wagga. Smoke is currently impacting surrounding suburbs. Residents are advised to keep all doors, windows and vents closed to prevent smoke from entering your home.

Update 5:56 pm: Fire activity has reduced in the vicinity of Mimosa. Crews have worked hard to contain the fire and work to strengthen containment lines along Goldfields way. Residents in the Mimosa and Sebastopol areas should stay informed as conditions may change.

Update 6:22 pm: The fire is now under control.

NPWS will also be closing Washpools picnic and camping area ahead of the forecast weather conditions this weekend.
