What is the difference between Hazard Reductions and Back burning?. Hazard reductions are pre-planned, controlled burns and are conducted during more favourable conditions. Back Burning is a tactic that involves lighting a fire in front of an oncoming bushfire. 📷 File Photo

Snow in the Northern Tablelands, rain and winds for much of the state over the next few days. With the wild weather, make sure you secure loose items, keep flammables 1m from heaters and never leave cooking unattended. If it’s flooded, forget it. Stay safe, stay dry! #nswrfs

How do our canvas hoses not burn?. Our canvas hose stitched with red is non-percolating and rubber lined internally so it doesn't leak out water. Our canvas hose stitched with blue is percolating and isn’t rubber lined. Its designed to stay wet on fire grounds to protect it.

Ever wondered how we know where the hydrants are?. We have nifty little markings that can be found on the road, the kerbside and on light poles that face directly towards the hydrant. This tells us where the water source is located and the size of the main.

Electric blankets are a great for that little bit of extra warm on colder nights, but they can also pose a fire risk. Make sure there’s no exposed wiring and always check your electric blanket for signs of wear, damage, faulty or exposed wiring. Stay fire safe this winter.
