Nå er nedbørstatistikken for februar klar. Ni steder i landet satte ny rekord for høy månedsnedbør. Tre av disse stasjonene ligger i Tromsø. Ved Værvarslinga i Nord-Norge ble den gamle nedbørsrekorden fra 1975 slått med 1,5 millimeter. Årets februar ga nemlig 218,5 mm i bøtta.

Jiehkkevárri is the highest mountain in the #LyngenAlps at 1834 m. The flat top of Jiehkkevárri is unlike many of the surrounding sharp peaks because it consists of glacial ice! It's name comes from the Sami word for glacier (jiehkki) and mountain (várri). P.C. Calvin Shackleton

This year’s MB for our monitored glaciers in Ny Ålesund was not as negative as the record year 2020. However for logistical reasons we made measurements in August. But melt recorded later on a neighboring glacier suggests that updated MB will be as negative as 2020, or even more.
