Ahead of a potential move to Crystal Palace, this week I covered Sidiki Cherif. I looked at where he excels, what needs some work and if we can use the past to adjudicate the future. My main takeaway? Exciting, but raw. Link is in the subtweet.

as it pertains to Spurs specific managerial successors, I’m firmly of the opinion that there is a gap between Sebastian Hoeneß & Vincenzo Italiano.

Role Ranking - Ball-Playing Centre-Back - Last 365 Days - Top 5 Leagues U-21 CB - 900+ mins played Jacobo Ramón and Jérémy Jacquet stand out. Personally, I'm expecting Vitor Reis to raise his performance even further as the team recovers its form.

Context matters? yes. But it’s important to remember (within the confines of open source data), the precedence in all of this effectively requires ATG technical traits & otherworldly feel for the game. Ultimately think it is worth considering.

Rodrigo Mora is obviously highly talented, but I have plenty of skepticism about his physical profile. It will eventually come up (5-6 creeps into outlier territory) and while particularly skillful, have to ask real questions as to what is required to mitigate those concerns.

Do home games mean that much in the grand scheme of managerial success? not particularly. Poch held record before Frank, but without necessary belief from match going fans, it’s next to impossible to imagine how much longer this will be tenable.

Thomas Frank is yet to pick up points in B2B league home games. Today’s loss guarantees that he will hold the record for most games needed across all PL Spurs managers. If it happens, it would have been the most games needed, with Santini only manager to never do it in the 2000s.

few too many instances where Odobert has been the last/2nd to last man off set pieces. Can understand prioritizing bigger players in the box, but West Ham comfortable to bypass a non existent press anyways by hitting it over the top over and over again. Disaster waiting to happen

would Chelsea be so kind as to not accelerate this deal so quickly, you know, preferably with enough time as to allow someone to write their thoughts on him in more than enough detail?

🚨🔵 Understand Chelsea held direct club to club talks with Rennes in the last 24h for Jeremy Jacquet. Jacquet, part of Chelsea 3 men shortlist for January at new CB as they hope to anticipate other top clubs moving on top CBs in the summer. 🎥➕ https://t.co/sN7dHgRKbb

my feeling is that he will end up being a rather fluid no 9, but it will require him to show a lot of development in his overall linkup, higher shot volume and a better aerial profile. That said, it’s a really smart swing from Crystal Palace if they get it over the line.

Sidiki Cherif at this current stage is neither striker nor winger. He’s pacy and powerful, so feels like a winger, but lacks the technical security. He has played at striker, but does far more carrying than traditional 9s. This tweener status has made his evaluation rather murky.

Spurs don’t have a disciple problem, they have a PGMOL problem. No Premier League club this season has a lower fouls per card than Tottenham, and they are -30.1% off the league average. 2nd lowest side, Chelsea, are -22.4% worse off than league average.

Do Tottenham have a discipline problem? • Only Brighton have been shown more combined yellow and reds in the Premier League • Incidents of players being left out of starting XI after reporting late for pre-match meetings • Repeated post-match issues https://t.co/0ztFggmFPy

perhaps it is a sort of “echo chamber fallacy” but it does seem as though a large majority of people assume that keepers are both easily upgradable/replaceable, where I am not certain that’s the case.

I’m going to shelve this thought for something that is far more expansive and long-form, but I am of the completely definitive opinion that football fans underappreciate the importance of a modern day goalkeeper and just how difficult they are to come by.
