This week, the Committee held an informative visit to Counties Fermanagh and Tyrone, during which Members met local stakeholders to discuss issues such as peatland restoration, fisheries, conservation and the circular economy.

Today the AERA Committee is meeting at Castle Archdale Country Park. Members are currently hearing from Waterways Ireland. Earlier in the morning the Committee received a briefing from @loughsagency

Today, we took our weekly meeting to @AFBI_NI in Hillsborough where we heard from representatives about their work and research on 'Delivering a net zero nature positive future, supporting sustainable agriculture and thriving rural communities’.

Big thank you to @DiscoverCAFRE Loughry Campus for hosting the Committee today. Following our meeting Members had a tour of the fantastic facilities at the College.

This morning the Committee is meeting @DiscoverCAFRE Loughry Campus. Members are hearing from the Rural Partnership Groups on the issues facing Rural Communities. No live feed but the watch again will be updated later.

"However, this will require greater investment, adept planning and policy decisions to secure the future of environmentally sustainable and profitable farming.” 10/10.

"The Committee is aware & supportive of the need to rebalance our agricultural system so that it can work in greater harmony with nature. 9/10.

"The work of the National Trust in monitoring, managing and adapting farming and conservation methods at Mount Stewart is impressive but it is clear that greater governmental support and investment is required to stem the increasing risks posed by climate change. 8/10.
