NHS Grampian went to level three, was escalated to level four with Mr Gray expressing concerns over its “leadership and governance”, and is now, in Mr Gray’s own words “a disaster zone”. Caring. Listening. Improving.

‘Less is more’. I understand what this means but this simply defies dictionary definitions. Less is called less because it is less than something greater than it, which funnily enough would be called more.

My Grandma used to say ‘You can’t have your cake and eat it’. Why give someone cake and tell them they can’t eat it?.

When I go to a shop, which is probably my best example of this one, I am 99.9% likely to be served by a stranger. Why do they say ‘See you later’ or ‘See you after’. Every single time, without fail, my immediate thought is ‘when did we arrange to meet during this transaction?’.

Next one, and funnily enough, I put ? against this on a questionnaire for NHS Grampian in 2007. ‘Feeling blue’. I am neither a Smurf or have hyperthermia. I’m also not a cast member of Avatar. How do you ‘feel blue’?.

Pet peeve of X. I’m autistic and don’t understand a lot of expressions unless they are explained to me. Even then, they often don’t make sense. Biggest one on X for me is the term ‘gaslighting’. There is no gas, no spark, and therefore no lighting of gas. Might do a 🧵.

The problem with statistics being used for propaganda purposes is one or more FOI requests later and they get disproven, which simply erodes public confidence. All that happens is you stop believing the propaganda in the first place as you expect it to be quickly disproved.

I don’t know @Annemarieward but I’ve read a number of their pieces of writing and a) I like the style of her writing and b) that is based on meaningful statistics. Statistics are commonly used for propaganda reasons. They should be used to effect change, not support inaction.

A random question. Why does the UK government apply a windfall tax on energy companies in response to wars affecting profits, but armament companies aren’t subject to the same? Naturally the PPE scandal doesn’t affect my faith in such a position being justified….

No matter the subject, it always costs more to do something wrong than doing it right in the first place.

This is a really important thread. Autism is not new. Society is more aware of it because of barriers to autism assessment services. Psychiatrists have had to have knowledge of autism for decades, as part of their basic training, as written by @rcpsych, since at least 2001.

@jk_rowling, you probably won’t see this but my son is an avid Harry Potter fan and we spoke last night about your advocacy regarding sex. It’s not just your fictional work that influences young ears. He thinks you’re even more brilliant now! If you do see this, thank you 🙏.

The biggest societal problem that I see is we teach children that they can change the world. At some unknown age we adversely judge people for simply believing what they were taught for so many years was true.

I also want to say that I’m very proud of our son for choosing to travel to meet Sandie today as he could have played with his mates. We had an age appropriate chat last night and he expressed a clear desire to come.

Our children met this truly inspirational lady today. The fact that Sandie became emotional when we were talking shows that she is unaware that this is a moment that will be written in history. This isn’t David vs Goliath. This is one kind hearted lady taking on a whole system.
