Another senior colleague lost to the great boneyard in the sky. I never met Taquet sadly but his work on African dinosaurs was foundational 🦕
Philippe Taquet, dinosaur hunter and former director of the National Museum of Natural History, has died So sad several of the taxa they found he will never see formally published https://t.co/ewf2MeDMg4

This is possibly an ecological crime-scene and should be treated as such. The case for taking these bastards back into Democratic, people-powered, public ownership has never been greater.

As well as dumping sewage on an industrial scale for years, @SouthernWater is now responsible for a huge spill of plastic biobeads along the Sussex coast. Throw the book at them @EnvAgency

I had no idea it was going to be so easy to spot the elusive yeti, but here’s one in plain sight lurking among the displays at the International Mountain Museum, Pokhara

Just out from our team, showing that Liaoningosaurus fossils are all babies only a year or less in age …

Dear @TfL thanks for making travel through west London by bus such an unpleasant experience this week. Huge gaps in service on 74 & 430 and loads of terminations at West Brompton. My journey times all doubled. Crowding too. Great half term planning. Totally incompetent. Pathetic.

Always nice to see the Cuvier memorial on the Rue Linné in Paris. My fave restaurant here is not far away, on the Rue de Blainville - hard to image such homage to natural historians in the UK

Two weeks @ESI_FossilLab one paper on another new Zimbabwean dino about to be submitted, another on a potentially new South African dino well on the way, two new grant ideas to work on, prelim work done on other projects. Amazing how much you can done without meetings ...

Sad news, another dinosaur legend lost this year. I’ll remember the long discussions about wine and good food as well as dinos. A massive influence on the field and one of the new wave of dino experts that moved the field forward rapidly during the 1990s
Feeling the incalculable loss of Mark Norell (1957-2025): wonderful scientist and cherished friend. His influence will continue through his many mentees and the science he did and inspired.

I’d missed this sad news, noting the passing of Michael Waldman (obit by Elsa Panciroli here: https://t.co/YDlOqjoBS7). He discovered the Middle Jurassic sites on Skye that various teams have worked since & we named the Skye turtle Eileanchelys waldmani in his honour in 2009

Sad to hear of the death of Mongolian dinosaur expert Rinchen Barsbold - a real pioneer in opening Mongolian science to the world and a leading theropod expert. I never met him sadly but his influence on the field has been immense

Delighted to have played a small part in the description of this fabulous animal - surely one of the most elaborately armoured animals of all time: https://t.co/jvQ1IHqzxJ
