🐒When we do work to the display cases we need to put specimens somewhere, on this occasion we moved all these primates to gallery 2 so we could clean them whilst we repainted their case! #ThrowbackThursday #NHMTring

🦈We have lots of sharks on display and they come in all shapes and sizes, this is our hammerhead. They've been around for about 450 million years are older than dinosaurs and trees, and have survived multiple mass extinctions. Find out more: https://t.co/xwDSTnCJ7T

This is an wallet which was given to us by Manchester Airport Customs. Sadly the wallet is made out of elephant skin. The trade of elephant products is one of many threats to elephants worldwide. #WorldElephantDay

🐸When the museum is closed we do all the things which we can't do when we are open, such as making sure the catalogue records are all up to date. Here are our Herpetology curators working on the amphibians. #Tring # NHMTring #amphibians

It's #WorldLionDay 🦁. Lions are often a symbol of strength and courage but their numbers are dwindling, there is less than 20,000 remaining in Africa. Help by supporting conservation organisations and raising awareness.

Better known as the writer of nonsense verse, Edward Lear, produced this incredible volume of 42 hand coloured lithographs when he was just 1 years old. It features birds from London Zoo.

Have you been able to spot many insects this summer? Here's some ladybirds in our quad. Ladybirds are a gardener's friend as they eat aphids which can often damage plants. 🐞

🌼We are so lucky to have lots of outdoor space at the museum for everyone to enjoy. Here is the @nhm_botany team on a collecting trip last year when our meadow was full of flowering ladies bedstraw. #NHMTring #Botany

Tigers are incredible animals. They often travel 6-12 miles at night searching for their next meal. However their range has reduced by 95% in the last 150 years dramatically reducing their population. #GlobalTigerDay
