Love this! This is Culture‼️ Holding a teammate accountable and ALLOWING your teammate to hold you accountable with no lip or attitude. And players coaching each other.
Hoopers: 5 things you can do this July that does NOT require skill...
1) Run hard on both ends of the floor
2) Communicate on the court
3)Celebrate your teammates
4) Eye contact w/ your coach
5) Positive body language
Hoopers: Coaches would love to see the following:

Make simple plays!
Assistant coaches, support staff, etc check on your HC (this applies to all occupations). They take care of everyone in the program, but who checks on them? Leaders are human too & deal with things as well.
Have a great one!
Hoopers: going into this next week coaches everywhere are looking for these things:
1) Meet passes/step to passes
2) Catch and face 1st/survey court
3) If you commit a turnover sprint back on D
4) Sprint off the floor when being subbed out.
NO skill required! Keep it simple.
💡Recruits💡
It’s not about the # of offers you accumulate, but the right one. You can only choose 1. The right FIT matters. Know what’s important to you.
1st time assistants & young assistants here’s a few things to consider 🧵
-Your job is to help, “assist” your HC in being successful.
-Recruiting is the life blood of the program you work in. Get players!
-Get players that your HC can coach.
💎Recruits💎
Happiness isn’t attached to a particular level (D1, D2, D3, NAIA, JC)
-Go where you’re wanted.
-Go be happy.
-Go where all your boxes are ✅
-Go where you can have a successful career.
🚨Athletic Directors🚨
Be open to hiring coaches at ALL levels. There are some good HCs at the D2, D3 etc levels that can coach. AND they understand how to do the job, with smaller budgets, while being creative to serve their SAs.
I’m a young HC and I don’t have all the answers but 1st time HC’s 👂🏽⬆️
-You can’t build it all today! Give yourself the grace and space to build. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
-Know what kind of kids & ppl you want in & around the program. Find this out fast!
-Recruit what U want
🏁 2021 and 2022 PSA’s🏁
4 things we look for when evaluating:
-Motor (how hard you play)
-Attitude/Mistake response/Encouragement
-Body language
-Are you coachable? Active listening, engaged, and follow thru. Eye contact and paying attention.
Extremely happy for our players and our staff! It’s a great feeling to celebrate our players and all the work they’ve put in. In 2 years we’ve been able to get some things done. Proud of them.
