The Prime Minister took the opportunity to congratulate CHINT Uganda on its remarkable 20-year journey of service to the nation.

Eng Buhanda, along with Vice Chairman Maj Edgar Ankwasa, was present at the ceremony, which was also attended by Hon Balaam Barugahara, State Minister for Gender, Labour, and Social Development.

The event highlighted a significant partnership announcement: OPPEIN's sponsorship of NEC FC, led by Chairman Eng Brian Buhanda, as principal shirt sponsor for the upcoming StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2025/2026.

*"NEC FC and CHINT Uganda Shine at CHINT Centre Opening"*. On August 16, 2025, Uganda's Prime Minister, Rt Hon Robinah Nabanja, graced the official opening of the CHINT Centre, home to CHINT Uganda and OPPEIN.

Eng. Terwane and his team, including Mr. Isaac Mbeine, Mr. Stephen Bayo, Mr. Andrew Goloire, Mr. David Odeke, Mr. Joel Opigo, and Mr. Nicholas Magala, were optimistic about the prospects of NEC Kyankwanzi Farm, a shining example of modern agriculture in action.

The harvest was shaping up to be a good one, with the upper blocks yielding 1.4 tons per acre and blocks adjacent to the Mayanja River exceeding 2 tons per acre.

As the inspection continued, the team evaluated the quality of the harvested maize, which was found to be excellent. The bright white kernels, minimal organic matter, and absence of inorganic foreign matter were testaments to the farm's mechanized systems.

Eng. Terwane emphasized the importance of monitoring these losses, explaining that grain lost in the field not only reduced yield but also posed problems for the next season's crop. The team was determined to minimize losses and ensure a bountiful harvest.

The initial figure of 6 kernels per square meter, equating to a loss of 60 kg per acre, was deemed too high. Further adjustments brought this down to 3.9 kernels per square meter, or 42 kg per acre.

Eng. Terwane assigned the Crop Scouts to closely monitor this parameter, knowing that every kernel counted. Tail losses, which referred to grains lost from the back of the combine harvester during threshing, separation, and cleaning processes, were also assessed.

With the help of Mr. Norman Asaba, the Farm Coordinator, and Mr. Josephat Musinguzi, the Senior Agronomist, the header was adjusted, reducing losses to 8 kernels per square meter, or 14 kg per acre.

The team had been working tirelessly to reduce these losses, and yesterday's assessment revealed 14 kernels per square meter, translating to a total loss of 24.5 kg per acre. Although within the acceptable limit, Eng. Terwane knew they could do better.

Header losses, which occurred when ears of corn weren't adequately captured by the header and fell to the ground, were a major concern.

However, he also knew that their multitasking nature required close monitoring to ensure optimal performance. Eng. Terwane's focus turned to minimizing header and tail losses, two critical parameters that could significantly impact yield.

Eng Terwane knew that combine harvesters were the backbone of their operation, capable of pulling maize plants through rollers, removing ears, shelling kernels, and separating grain from debris in a single pass.

As Eng Terwane observed the harvesting activities, he scanned the field for any signs of inefficiency.

The air was alive with the hum of combine harvesters as they efficiently harvested the maize crop. Eng. Terwane's mission was to conduct routine field supervision of the back-to-back operations at the end of the 2025A season.
