The application consists of a statement of interest, two short answer questions (one is a video response), and a reference form. Reviewers typically review 20-25 applications. If anyone is interested, email Ashley at aberniche@fisheries.org.

Reviewers are required to attend a one-hour reviewer training, January 13th and 12pm EST. It will also be recorded if you are not available during that time and will give you all the training you'll need to review applications for us.

Meritorious Service. This award recognizes extraordinary service to the AFS by an NCD member. Nominations may be based on a single outstanding achievement or a variety of service activities, and may include the Chapter, Division, Section or Parent Society level.

Fisheries Excellence. This award will be given to a North Central Division member who has made an outstanding contribution to the fisheries profession. This contribution may be a single activity or a collection of achievements over the individual’s career.

Most Active Chapter. Two awards (small chapter, large chapter) will be given to the chapters that have carried out the most active programs of enhancing professionalism and fisheries science.

NCD awards are as follows:. Best Chapter Communications. One award will be given to the chapter that has developed the most efficient, useful, and attractive newsletter and website to disseminate information to its members.

Deadline: Completed applications should be submitted by December 5th, 2024. All applicants will be notified of the results prior to the early registration deadline on 12/31.

Frequency of Award: The STC will select up to two recipients annually. All awards will be at the STC’s discretion.

Selection Criteria: The Scholarship Committee of the STC will evaluate applicants based on the following criteria: a. AFS involvement (reasons for attending the meeting). b. Relevance of research to the goals of the Salmonid Technical Committee. c. Need for financial assistance.

Documentation required, cont'd: . reasons for wishing to attend the meeting (paper or poster presentation, sub-unit business and/or technical meetings, AFS involvement), and reasons why financial assistance is needed. References are encouraged but not required.
