So many of us have followed this club through the highs and lows, up and down the country, singing and cheering and still turning up when nothing seems to be going our way.
We’ve all earned the right to enjoy the good times lately - long may they last.
Our club 🟠⚫️
What a player Seb Palmer-Houlden is. It’s so rare to have a loan player that’s so well developed, so strong and so physical. Losing him for 4 months was a huge blow and if you look at the table now, it’s crazy to imagine where we might be if he’d stayed fit.

@nicnacnoopixs
Shoutout to these two shaggers who secured a massive win over Swindon today. Clinical again from
@Will_Evs8
to get his 20th of the season before a winner from
@HouldenSeb
.
We’ve had some brilliant loanees - (Ben White, Antoine Semenyo, Scott Twine) and Seb is right up there.
The strikers are rightly getting a lot of praise at the minute but let’s take a second to shine some light on one of the most underrated players at the club, who’s been in superb form lately. We always miss his presence when he’s injured and he’s been outstanding in recent weeks.
I’m on such a buzz off that. Wrexham tried their dirty tactics but more than met their match today. Red card was a shocking challenge. Every player stood up to the challenge. We humbled a team with a much bigger budget than us. Superb.
Very few clubs in the EFL have the relationship between fans and manager like we do with Graham Coughlan. He’s become a proper County hero during his tenure and I hope he’s here for many years to come.
Win, lose or draw it’s Graham Coughlan’s Amber Army 🟠⚫️
Nowhere near the bottom two, beating Wrexham, FA Cup 4th round tie against Manchester United to come and Huw Jenkins our new owner. This was not in the script many were predicting last summer, eh?
Scot Bennett retiring at County absolutely should definitely happen. He’s a massive part of the club and has been for many years. Mickey Demetriou also should’ve retired here, but timing more than anything prevented that from happening.
Clear your weekend plans for the next few weeks because Rodney Parade is the only place to be.

Newport County vs Swindon Town
Congratulations
@HouldenSeb
- fully deserved. He’s already a very competent League Two player and will definitely make the step up in the future.
And for the winners against Wrexham and Swindon Town, he’s written himself into Newport County folklore.
Hearing a lot of people say Paul Mullin is Championship quality after scoring against Sheffield United and Coventry in the FA Cup this season. Using that logic this man must’ve been Champions League quality for his goals against Man City, Spurs and Leicester during our cup runs.
Graham Coughlan is working with the barest of bare bones. He’s a miracle worker getting 3 points tonight. Huge credit to Josh Seberry too, thrown in the deep end at right back let alone centre back. What a huge win.
Everyone else is down to opinion but these four players are 100% Newport County legends from recent years. Our story would be very different without any of them and they’ll be remembered by fans for years to come.

One of the most serious posts I’ve ever written. Keep any toxicity or boos away from Rodney Parade this season, it’s not the time. The boys need us more than ever.
Outstanding strike from Morris but a huge deal of praise needs to go to Zanzala for this. I’ve never been to sure where I stand on him given his injury troubles but he is so unpredictable that defenders hate playing against him. Hope he stays fit for the rest of the season.
Playoff final vs Morecambe easily. Final vs Tranmere was heartbreaking but the Morecambe final was just pure anger. I can take referee mistakes but that day was just a pure robbery.
The FA Cup has brought some of the best players and managers in the UK to Rodney Parade for some very special evenings.
I’m so pleased for Graham Coughlan that he’s going to get to write his own chapter in our brilliant cup history next weekend when Manchester United visit.
With every passing game I realise more and more just how special a manager Michael Flynn was for us, and appreciate how much he made us punch above our weight. We had the best times imaginable under him, and there is zero chance we’d have lost 10 in 12 games at Rodney Parade.
All the best, Podge.
Upon request, the forward has been released from his contract to allow him to move home to Ireland and play out his career closer to family.
Whether you’ve been Rowberry in or Rowberry out in the past, I think I speak for everyone in saying that despite the poor results we’ve all wanted him to succeed and let’s hope we’ve turned a corner after today. Gaffer 🧡🖤
Since Graham Coughlan took over, we’ve only lost twice in the league. Before him, we couldn’t stop losing home or away. I don’t think he’s got anywhere near the credit he deserves. To put it simpler, pre GC 9 defeats in 14. Post GC, 2 defeats in 9. We’re so much more competitive.
Players deserve so much praise for the way they’ve bounced back from the Accrington game. Graham Coughlan also deserves huge credit for identifying where we lack in other areas, we make up for with a really solid midfield. Overloading the centre midfield is working a treat.
Tonight marks the return of Newport County legend Mickey Demetriou back to Rodney Parade for the first time since leaving this summer for Crewe Alexandra. A brilliant defender and leader who also scored some extremely important goals, he will no doubt get a fantastic welcome.
Every passing game I love Nick Townsend more and more. He’s worth so many points over the season and is generally so reliable. Brilliant shot stopper too.
Our number 1.
Exactly this ⬇️
Surely 1,000 fans who came yesterday got the buzz the rest of us did and will be back for Swindon at least? There’s so much potential in this club and I’m sure Huw Jenkins will be licking his lips at the prospect of helping us realise that potential.
Yesterday just shows the potential we have as a club. Brilliant to see a full house and one of the best atmospheres I’ve witnessed over Rodney Parade, helped by an excellent performance. Hopefully a few who were there but don’t come regularly will be coming back now
Lot of people complaining that Sunday will be full of people who don’t go often / at all. I mean, our average attendance is 4k, and Sunday will be 9k, so I’m not sure what people are expecting the extra 5k to be? There’s not 5k diehard fans out there that have missed out.
Brilliant evening on the terrace tonight. Made up for Kiban Rai who caused absolute chaos when he equalised. Rollercoaster of a game and wasn’t to be in the end but another great little cup run.
A SEASON IN REVIEW: NEWPORT COUNTY. Featuring the highs, lows, and everything from Partick Thistle to Darren Kelly’s holidays, here’s a mammoth review of our season. All RTs are much appreciated, as is any feedback. Sit down, put your feet up and enjoy.
There’s a lot of narrative currently about the future of Graham Coughlan, which is natural given the recent run. However, I’m firmly Coughlan in - he gets the club and has navigated having one of the lowest budgets in the EFL extremely well. That said, we can’t end on 8 losses.
Will Evans and Adam Lewis rightly got a lot of the plaudits but here are some others I think deserve praise.
Delaney - matched Sutton physically which was so important
Townsend - so assured
McLoughlin - handled Patrick well and lovely assist
Charsley - chipping in with big goals
Fair play to Thomas Frank too. Came across well in his persona tonight. I noticed he personally went and shook hands with every member of our staff before the game. Only a small thing but I can imagine quite a few PL managers would be far too arrogant for that.
We'd like to extend a huge warm welcome to our friends from the Norwegian Newport County supporters club who have travelled to Newport for this evening's game! 🇳🇴
Vi håper du liker spillet! 🧡

Another incredible shot from
@nicnacnoopixs
@Will_Evs8
is playing out of his skin. Even without his goal today his work rate and hold up play was phenomenal. County’s number 7.
Ben White, Antoine Semenyo, Scott Twine, Finn Azaz. Newport County is clearly a great place to develop young talent. Can see Seb Palmer-Houlden going on to have a very decent EFL career too.
Sure, not everyone has been a success but they’ve tended to have poor careers after us.
Middlesbrough have finalised a £2.5m deal to sign Finn Azaz from
#AVFC
. Azaz's impressive loan spell at Plymouth Argyle cut short by

following permanent interest in the 23yo. Middlesbrough to complete the deal shortly.
Story
@TheAthleticFC
Getting tired of writing these posts now but some thoughts on Aaron Lewis. A good servant for the club but a sign of the times at Rodney Parade this summer.
Best atmosphere in ages that. On first impressions Graham Coughlan seems like the man. Hard as nails but able to dish out a bit of love when required. Our Cymru Prem boys
@Will_Evs8
and
@PriestleyTylerF
were immense too.
In terms of technical ability, his movement and reading of the game, Aaron Wildig is one of the best players I’ve watched in a County shirt. He’s so far ahead of others players on the pitch it’s genuinely a joy to watch him. I’d be prioritising tying him down for another 2 years.
Put my thoughts together on the James Rowberry sacking and where it leaves us. Hope I’ve done it justice, I’ve tried to keep it balanced and unbiased and as always I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions. All RTs are welcome. Cheers.
It’s impossible to predict how this season will go until the transfer window is over and we can see the quality of our new recruits but I’ll tell you one thing - I’d be a lot more worried about this coming season if it wasn’t for these two. Pure class.
Can’t fault a single player tonight. James Waite, Harry Charsley, Scot Bennett and Will Evans were all superb. And I know I’ve said before how much I rate him but to have a player with the ability of Aaron Wildig in the situation we’re in is a blessing.
Worth remembering that this Brentford side tonight are better than the Saints side that put eight past us a couple of years back. We had some great upsets down the years but it shouldn’t ever be expected, the gulf in quality is massive. Let’s just enjoy tonight for what it is.
Anyway, that rounds off another season covering Newport County. I’ll be back once the transfer season begins, but barring anything major, it’s goodbye for me for the next month or so.
Worth remembering Josh Sheehan’s struggles after signing permanently (although that was down to long term injuries, Bowen has had a torrid time the past year or so too). I’d love nothing more than him to prove us wrong and have a big season.
I think it’s imperative this season more than any recently that we start quickly and get as many points as possible. No time for a slow start this year. Some tricky games to come in August but wouldn’t 3 points tomorrow be a lovely way of easing our worries? Up the County
This season can be summarised into 4 parts. Two periods where we’ve more or less had a full squad - at the start of the season and after Christmas, where we’ve been in playoff form. And the two periods that followed that where we’ve been decimated by injuries and been very poor.
Emailed around 50 local businesses details of the Players Donation Fundraiser today. No guarantees it’ll lead to anything but we all have to try do our bit for the club this season. The club is a huge part of the community and that goes hand in hand with local businesses.
Given we ended the season so badly, here’s a list of every team we beat this year to remind you that there were plenty of good moments and some great memories made.
Graham Coughlan’s inability to grind out a home win over National League opposition with 10 men for over half hour has cost us a chance to play Wigan at home ffs
Big fan of everyone being on the exact same page when it comes to other out of contract players commenting on Clarkey’s Instagram post of him signing a new deal.
We look a million times better under Graham Coughlan already. The difference is ridiculous. We could’ve won today but we can’t be disappointed with a point at such a tough place.
On this day in 2018: Antoine Semenyo celebrates with Mickey Demetriou after scoring a 98th minute winner to cause bedlam in the home end in a dramatic 2-1 win over Stevenage.
Brilliant mentality this from Omar Bogle and one that will hopefully ensure he keeps on bagging well into next season. FYI I think he had a really tough job during that goalless run given he had more or less zero support. Replacing Kav and McNeill will be a priority this summer.
County's goal king Omar on going from 'most hated to most loved'.
Needs a hat-trick on final day to hit 20 for the season but it's another milestone that he's miffed to have missed...
Joe Crocker has been engaging with the County fans page over on Facebook in case anyone missed it. Here’s a really useful breakdown of what the board are covering / looking at, and it also provides some clarity to the Jon Pratt situation. Good to see the board engaging with fans.
Good to see County’s prize attacking threat being recognised with the development of a
@Mickeyd_09
about to launch the ball at
@PriestleyTylerF
’s head emoji.
Newport County would be 8th in the table if the season started when Graham Coughlan took over. That should give us all some hope and optimism going into next season. Bring on Mansfield Town tonight.
Lot of talking points from today but one thing is for certain and that’s this defence is much better with James Clarke in it. Good to have you back
@_JamesClarke_
Season ticket renewed today so there’ll be another one for the collection come August.
If you can afford to do it (and remember you can split the payments into 3), it really is worth doing, for yourself and for the club.
Graham Coughlan is doing some job. Not getting too excited yet but stay up this season (which we should do comfortably come May) and I’m optimistic for what he can deliver in the future.
On this day in 2019..
Newport County 1-0 Carlisle United
Rodney Parade
Newport County defender George Nurse celebrates after scoring a 96th minute winner in a 1-0 win against Carlisle United.
Good to see
@ntownsend94
tied down for two more years. Really hope he’s our number one next season. His save against Bristol Rovers in the 1-0 win at Rodney Parade last season is easily my favourite save of his, a huge save at a crucial moment.
Would anyone else take Matty Stevens? 23 goals in 37 games in 21/22 and although he’s not hit those heights since, at 26 years old I think he could still find that form again.
That was really bad. Lacked effort, urgency, passion, creativity. You name it, we lacked it. We used 5 strikers over the course of the game and not one of them did anything.
Bradford away next week which is our only hope of avoiding ending the season with 8 defeats in a row.
Last season Swindon beat us 1-0 at their place with Luke Jephcott scoring the winner. Wouldn’t it be nice if that could be reversed this season and Jephcott gets the winner for us today?
New blog. Weird timing I know, with the new manager coming in, but I wanted to keep things fresh and mix it up a bit. And we never got to say bye to a bona fide club legend in
@padraigamond21
, so I took the chance to. All RTs appreciated.
I really rate this. This could be a summer of glorious rebuild if we play it right. We’re in a position of strength compared to this time last year. Omar Bogle will be a huge loss on and off the pitch, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be replaced.
Given today was a scrappy 1-0 home win that we saw plenty of during Michael Flynn’s spell as manager, I decided to make an all time best XI of players from the Flynn era.
Would you make any changes?
Leaving Bennett out was near enough impossible but the others just edged it.
Our 3rd home win of the season and 1st since August, I wouldn’t care if it was Cwmbran Town under 12s at this stage it’s just nice to leave Rodney Parade victorious. Newport County 2-1 Southampton U21s
