Words of encouragement and camaraderie to Buffalo Grove’s Rohan and teammates after Barrington claim their second #HSNCT title in three years.

Not only this, it should be said that: a) Rohan Kher likely will place very highly in the HSNCT recordbooks for power percentage with his absurd 61/24/17 line. b) Barrington would not have even made the final without Michael or Colin. Their buzzes were every bit as crucial today.

The final score in Marquis, one last time: Barrington A (IL) 555, Buffalo Grove (IL) 210. Again, an exceptional performance over both days of the tournament by each team, and all of those we followed on this account. #HSNCT

An equally massive congratulations are due to Buffalo Grove, and especially Rohan Ganeshan, whose enormous individual performance is surely one of the biggest in the history of this event. He's still only a rising senior, so the 2024 field should consider this their warning!

It's a second #HSNCT title for Charles Young, who also led them to the 2021 title, but this time he and his teammates truly put on a clinic, looking like a title-winning team throughout. A massive congratulations to them on their victory and the hard work that brought them here.

TU23: We'll end with -- what else -- a blazing fast history power by none other than Rohan Kher! The bonus is on Thatcher-era British politics, but nobody really cares anymore as Barrington A WIN THE 2023 #HSNCT final by a huge margin!

TU22: Barrington get the tossup again, then 20 the science bonus. The score is now 520-210 as we read the last tossup of the tournament.

TU21: Barrington make a slightly silly neg on a tossup (their answer was "kilograms") and Rohan picks up then quickly 30s the bonus. Three cycles remain, just a minute on the clock though.

TU20: Barrington simmer down enough to pick up Rohan G's neg on a tossup on Polish anthropology. The bonus, naturally, is a mixed art bonus on 19th century France. Charles 30s it and everything continues to come up aces for Barrington.

TU19: Another early power from Barrington. The points are just raining down now, as they 20 the bonus. Coach Price calls time to confirm the score, and cheers erupt on their side of the room as Barrington realize that they have LOCKED the #HSNCT title with 5 cycles to go!!

TU18: Quick power from Barrington and they cleanly 30 the bonus on infernal urban planning (stroads are very bad, actually) to extend their lead.

TU17: Rohan G wakes up and powers The Master and Margarita. 20 points on the first two parts of the economics bonus and the lead is 190.

TU16: And now Charles powers art with ease just as Rob Carson reads the title of a Parmagianino painting of St. Jerome. 20 on the bonus and the lead has cleared 200.

TU15: Rohan Kher powers myth! The lead is certainly being drawn out now, as Charles misses the hard part of a bonus on Edward Albee but again recovers to 20.

TU14: Charles powers a tossup on Sri Lanka, but in spite of being possibly the best trash team in the field seem fooled by the film bonus. They only seem that way though, getting 20 on the bonus.

TU13: Rohan G. inverts the thesis of a Daniel Dennett book and comes up with Darwin for Descartes. Barrington convert off the neg and add 20. 260-140.

TU12: We resume the match as Lucas Pasdo figures out the engineering tossup on hydraulic presses for 10, his second live buzz in this final. The bonus is on classical music and Rohan easily sweeps it.

At the half in Marquis, Barrington A (IL) leads Buffalo Grove (IL) by the score of 230-105 in the final of the 2023 #HSNCT.

TU11: Quick power for Rohan, but much to his consternation the bonus is math computation, specifically probability relating to coinflips. They miss the first part but do recover for 20 as the timer sounds to end the half.
