Didn't @Nicole4Nevada just tell us how great Nevada's been on criminal justice reform?

Let's see, there's AB395, AB201, AB160, AB243, AB268... a lot of criminal justice reform bills dying with a whimper in the @NevadaSenate. Didn't Nevada declare racism a public health crisis last year? 🤔 #NVleg

.@ACLUNV with strong words about Nevada dropping the quest to end the death penalty. Says Dem leaders in gov's office / Senate's "commitment to meaningful reform is nothing but lip service." Says situation "an embarrassment." Says blame for future executions lies with lawmakers:

The failure to even schedule a hearing on #AB395 is absolutely unacceptable. It is time for Nevada to face the irreparably broken death penalty system @MelanieScheible @Nicole4Nevada

There is a path forward, @GovSisolak, you're just too cowardly to take it. @Nicole4Nevada, @MelanieScheible, and Sisolak should have a robust conversation with persons on death row who are begging for their lives.

Want to know how the #nvleg can fix that budget hole that the Nevada Supreme Court just ruled on—Abolish the failed, racist, and expensive death penalty. #abolishthedeathpenalty #ab395 #nvleg

Asked if the death penalty bill will get a hearing, Senate Majority Leader @Nicole4Nevada said she had nothing more to add. Asked if that meant yes or no, she said she had nothing more to add. Bill will die if it gets no hearing by tomorrow. #nvleg #AB395

#MassLiberation is reuniting mommas and their kiddos for #MothersDay, and reminding the #nvleg how urgent the decriminalization of traffic infractions really is. @leslieatPLAN for President! https://t.co/T4HxUgjCOu

Her $4,431 in traffic tickets ballooned to $20,000 in debt and the threat of arrest. The system is “money hungry," she said.

Repealing the death penalty is one of many ways the #nvleg can improve a broken criminal-legal system plagued by systemic racism. NACJ sent a letter to @MelanieScheible demanding a hearing on AB395 in the Senate. Let's see some action to match @Nicole4Nevada's wise words.

George Floyd's family will never stop feeling his loss, but the Minnesota AG and Chauvin jury have shown that accountability is possible. We must continue to work to correct systemic inequities that have allowed too many law enforcement injustices to go unpunished in the past.

The death penalty "is intimately tied to violent structures of racism that permeated the legal structures in America’s past and that remain omnipresent in the current justice system." ABOLISH. #nvleg

Over the past few years many Nevadans have sought to pursue a better future by seriously reckoning with the state’s history of racial discrimination.

Let's play Jeopardy-ish! CATEGORY: Why is this racist? 🤔 CLUE: #AB168 takes a peaceful protest, and redefines it as a riot. Then it punishes a peaceful protest like a riot--with felonies.🤬 We'll start.

This is where we are on the issue of race in Nevada: @Wheeler4Nevada just asked whether a bill to address systemic racism is "just for people of color" or whether it would also protect persons "walking while white." Walking. While. White. #nvleg

Turns out forensic pathologists aren't above cognitive bias. We all knew it, but now we have the empirical data. Check out the article here: https://t.co/GBVRztcrOT

Banning no-knock warrants is the best option. But we support the reasonable compromise in Amended SB50. Nevadans deserve nothing less than meticulously justified, safely executed knock warrants. #nvleg

A person convicted of a crime experiences 2 types of detention: pretrial detention (jail) and post-conviction detention (prison). Wrongfully convicted persons will never get that time back. #nvleg, AB104 should compensate the loss of liberty--every single day of it.
