Dear @ChrisMasonBBC why do you categorise folks as: the Unions, the Government and then “ordinary people”. Who do you think it is that’s on strike? It’s ordinary people: nurses, teachers, postal workers, train drivers, lecturers. I’m curious about the ‘othering’ of strikers. TY.

Solidarity to my UCU colleagues whether you are able to strike or not. And to those striking in other sectors. I’m striking against the devaluation of a profession, which can only damage the UK’s research infrastructure and ability to educate.

If Twitter goes down (unlikely): . I’ve had a few laughs, admired a few people and showed off a bit, but mostly it’s been awful and I’ll use my spare time to regrout the shower.

For World antibiotic awareness week I’d planned an UG practical about how gene expression is key to resistance phenotype. But I’ll be on strike because universities - where clever people work - can’t fathom how to pay their staff properly and provide decent pensions….

Hamlet at the Old Vic last night was excellent in parts. 420 years and still relevant. Long time since I’ve seen it but gone are the middle distance soliloquies. Fourth wall smashed by a beautifully understated Billy Howle and Polonius played for laughs by Jason Barnett. 4 stars.

Out to see Hamlet at the Old Vic tonight. I’m so mid-term tired that I’ll probably be needing the gunshots, stabbings, vomiting and choking the producers have just emailed to warn me about in order to stay awake….

I prefer it when Tory governments die like a damp squib. This seems more like a scene out of Downfall.
