Today we remember the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War in which 255 personnel lost their lives Were it not for the selfless dedication of the AMS many more would have lost their lives We remember all those in conflicts past who gave their lives in service #RemembranceDay

Bumped into @AMS_SM_1 at @MusMilMed today. Able to thank him in person for organising the RAMC’s moving and dignified presence at WW2 vet William Earl’s funeral. Also delighted to donate a copy of William’s story to the AMS WOs & Sgts past and present Reunion dinner 2022.

Thank you for all your wonderful comments about William Earl. It was moving to read them. I will collate them for the family and pass them on. In place of this week's blog on the writing of Blood and Bandages, I'll be writing my own tribute to my cherished friend and WW2 hero.

William captivated the audience from the start with his charm, intelligence and wit. He even inspired some of younger members in attendance who were gripped by his story. William Earl 12th May 1915 - 11th March 2022

We are sad to hear that over the weekend William Earl passed away, he died peacefully on the 11th March aged 106. In 2017 Liz Coward @LC43 and William came to the museum to give a wonderful talk on William's career in the RAMC.
