Echolocating bats can more easily find and pollinate long-stemmed flowers that stand out from the surrounding foliage, which may be why this floral trait evolved
Some bat-pollinated flowers may have evolved long stems to be more visible to echolocating bats.🦇🌷🤯.

Since hearing isn't as precise as vision, we suggest this maximizes 'visibility' to bat echolocation, much like how bright red flowers function for hummingbirds.(4/5)

Through experiments in screen tents, we found that nectar bats take nearly twice as long to find flowers with short stems vs. those with long stems, but only in complex, leaf-filled backgrounds.(3/5)
