My daily mental tussle: If I wear this, will I be perceived as too hood? *Checks schedule* Should I tuck my iced out JW pendant? I didn’t say “good morning” in that email; I hope they don’t paint me as the angry ‘Black man’. Shit, it’s not even 9:30am. I need a ☕️ I’M TIRED

February 1st - BHM is here! Quick reminder, don’t be afraid to teach Black excellence & history. Just one small caveat - our people’s history didn’t start in bondage. Please do your research 📖 #BlackHistoryMonth #teachertwitter

Recently came across this dichotomy of being “Politically Black” or “Black Black” - this pendulum of how Black folk show up and present in spaces - and I got questions. I wasn’t aware there was a difference. Can’t they co-exist? 🤔 #BlackTwitter

Today is #MLKDay2024. If you’re going to quote, honour, lift up this man and his example, do so correctly. Remember who our leader fought for & the messages he championed. ‘Preciate it

TBH, in small pockets, there's been some change. Students are more educated, aware, and ready to impact change. If I'm keeping it a buck, it's the adults we need to work on #teachertwitter

What are we doing to create & foster authentic & intentional spaces of wellness for students, families, & educators in schools & across the system? Now more than ever, we gotta rethink & reframe the hierarchy of our classroom & school practices #edchatie #teachertwitter #onted

Yea, representation matters in Ed but we've known this. What we need to ask is why aren't particular groups interested in careers in Ed? Unless we honestly answer this question AND rectify the issues the responses raise, the representation we need ain't happening #edutwitter

just jumped off a call & my guy shared a quote that really hit me. he said, "trust is the only currency that matters". if our students don't trust us, how can we teach 'em? the title of 'teacher' alone don't cut it ... moving fwd how are we building trust? #teachertwitter #onted

it's been a minute since i've engaged on 'X' consistently. another goal of mine for '24: re-connect with the thinkers, movers and shakers in the field. we still got work to do #edchatie #teachertwitter #OntEd

Day 2. I think brothers should give each other flowers more often. Like men should praise other men. Not celebrities. But people they know and love and let inside. Brothers should lift up each other, randomly. To let it be known how important we are to one another.
