Lamar in a Car returns to Room 27 ☺️ .Former students told their younger siblings to be on the lookout for Lamar in a Car once the @Ravens started their playoff drive. Kids were so excited to see him when they came to math this week!

7th grade used vertical whiteboards to prepare for an assessment and prove that nothing is scarier than @KFlemmens zombie run time. I still had fun trying to beat her this week ☺️@CockeysvilleMS

“Ms. Fontinell, can you take a picture of my diagram? It’s too good to erase it.” I love how much vertical whiteboards have really built up the confidence of mathematicians in room 27!

Algebra 1 students built connections between forms of quadratics and their characteristics using hexagonal thinking. LOVED getting to see their thinking unfold as groups discussed the best place for each hexagon. @CockeysvilleMS

Algebra 1 students discussed factored form of quadratics, thought about where they may have seen parabolas in the real world, and used @Desmos sliders to model with mathematics. Then, we talked about whether a quadratic equation was the best model.

Algebra 1 students were able to make sense of problems in order to decide which strategy was the best way to solve an equation. We finished class by talking about the benefits of each of the 4 methods!

I loved using a Padlet to see students define a polynomial expression, then revise their definitions based on different examples and non-examples of them. @MrsPotterMath - your Algebra 1 video inspired this activity ☺️

Students in Pre-Algebra persevered in problem solving while they found rate of change and slope. This feedback showed our hard work paid off! @CockeysvilleMS
