Ms. Di Zillo transformed her class into Starbooks Cafe to wrap up a poetry unit. Students laughed as she jokingly wrote incorrect names on cups. It was a special to see students reciting poems and feeling like they are a part of a community. @sd735

7th graders are doing a researched debate about recent cases of book banning. Not only is it a healthy conversation about censorship but there’s also been an increase in circulation of the books being discussed, and the best part? The students are highly engaged! @Skokie735

It’s official—With a unanimous vote, Niles Township High School District 219 votes to become the first public high school district in the United States to offer Assyrian as an accredited World Language option.

What do you do when cultures collide? I call a student’s name. Student responds “what?” This is acceptable in his culture. It is highly disrespectful in mine. If you were me how would you respond after the immediate shock has subsided?

Even though Camp Maclean was canceled, the 7th grade team put together a camp day and made the best of it! My favorite was Ms. Magnuson’s Karaoke Lounge. The fun and laughter that came out of that room reminds me just how invaluable connections and joy are.💜
