That would require humanizing children and respecting their personhood and there way too many parents invested in ownership & controlling their kids as a way validate themselves.

This is the truest thing I’ve read today. Stretch this out to teachers, nurses, pediatricians...any person who’s in a position of control over a child...it would transform the world we live in.

African adults don't respect children. I'm teaching my kid that grown ups can be full of shit too. And not always right. I told her that 'Its OK to be rude to adults if you're not feeling their vibe'. She was like 'Really?!'

“Humanizing children and respecting their personhood.” Whew! We don’t do that at all. How many times when you were a kid and an adult walked in the room did all the adults make you get up and move out of the way and give that adult your seat like your presence didn’t mean shit.🤣

I apologized to my kid the other day and had another parent look at me like I was crazy. They may be children doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be treated with respect. I hated my parents never owning mistakes I will not continue that cycle
