After five years with so many wonderful students, colleagues and lots of learning experiences, Friday marked my last day at SCA! I’m very excited for my new role but I’m also grateful to have worked somewhere that I’ve enjoyed so much that it makes me sad to leave! 🌟

The end of this week saw our first speaking mocks for y10, the first speaking mocks with the new specification & (of course) the return of zen cat. I’m pleased to say that he was a hit with the students, but I’m even more pleased with the effort and resilience that I’ve seen 🐱🇫🇷

My June audiobooks. I loved Practice Perfect so much that I’ve bought a physical copy so that I can reference sections more easily. They were all excellent listens (and I’m still loving how much more productive my commute feels) but Practice Perfect was definitely my favourite📖.

A wonderful night for a wonderful year group! Prom is always one of my favourite points in the year and it was a pleasure to celebrate all of their hard work, successes and the end of their time with us at SCA. 🌟.

The first audiobooks of May. All interesting but in different ways. As a self-confessed over-thinker, Clear Thinking was a useful listen to support my post-decision thought process. All the books made me reflect on my practice + experiences, and how to keep developing further! 📖

April audiobooks 📖. These were some really thought-provoking listens. My favourite this month still is “The Next Conversation”, I found the anecdotes so interesting and it’s the one that’s made me reflect most on my own practice. However, it’s closely followed by Sinek.

Two more days of speaking exams with my lovely year 11 French students, so I bought another stress toy (continuing the tradition) to try to decrease their nerves and make them smile. Calma llama was on hand for moral support. 🦙🇫🇷

I am a big fan of this book. I loved the emphasis on sharing + elevating strengths through praise, feedback and learning. The point, ‘82% consider recognition as an important part of their happiness at work’, might seem obvious, but I think it’s powerful and important to act on📚

A busy end to the week with two days of speaking exams with my lovely Y11 Spanish class. Their progress so far this year has made me very proud. This year’s speaking exam stress ball (my annual tradition) is Zen Cat, which got lots of smiles to help break the pre-exam nerves🐱🇪🇸.

Holiday reading☀️

Another revision session today, this time with my y11 Spanish class. Last year, I struggled to get students to engage in Spanish revision in the holidays, so I was very pleased to have over half of my class attend. They thanked me for my time but I’m grateful for their devotion🇪🇸

Today, I had a lovely afternoon with some of my wonderful Y11 French students. It was great to see their confidence growing throughout the session. The promise of pizza and treats might have helped, but I was proud of them for giving up part of the holidays for extra revision🇫🇷.

The first audiobook of April and what a book it was, I loved it! The chapter on assertive communication, with concrete examples and non-examples, made me reflect on ways that I have subconsciously impacted my assertive voice in the past and how to avoid happening again📚.

Starting the Easter holidays with a Saturday surrounded by amazing women with a shared goal. I have left the session feeling inspired, motivated and with lots to reflect on. 🌟@ATTInstitute #loweringtheladder

The productive use of commuting time has continued with my final audiobooks of this half-term. There were some really thought provoking points, throughout all four books, on accountability, development and leading improvement. Lots to think about ready for next half-term! 📖
