Yesterday and today my virtual classes had our Oscar Award Ceremony. Everyone unmuted their microphones in order to drum roll and applaud for their peers 🥁👏🏼 It was SO fun! Awards for my virtual students are ready to be picked up, with their special prizes taped on the back 😍

It’s the week of Halloween, which means Suspense Movie Trailers! 🌒🎃☠️ We kicked off the 2nd quarter with students learning about suspense and how to create suspense in their writing. S’s are now writing their own suspense movie trailer. I love seeing their creativity! 📝💭

How’s this for some Monday motivation? 👎🏼 What makes it worse is today’s spirit day theme is “favorite sports team”, so you know I had to wear my @Bengals jersey, even after a tough loss. Have to stay loyal to my hometown, no matter what though! 🐯

Today’s highlight: One of my students walking into my classroom at the end of the day to say goodbye for the day 💙

Today in Honors ELA we are discussing our first mystery short story - Roald Dahl’s “The Landlady”. What better way to kick start a discussion than by having students walk in to this scene? #PleaseComeIn 😏

Kicking off The Outsiders with my ELA students by learning about connotation and denotation. Great discussion this morning about the connotation of the word “outsider” 👏🏼

After learning about the 5 story elements during our last in-person class and while at home on Canvas, today students reviewed the terms by (safely) playing the one and only fly-swatter game!! 😎 Congrats to “The Swatters” from block 1 for winning the game in a tie-breaker! 👏🏼

2020 has me like 🥴 (Literally - just watch...) I wish I loved recording videos of me teaching/introducing myself as much as I love interacting with my students in person or on Zoom! But hey, you have to laugh at yourself every now and then, right?

Whether they are learning virtually or in-person, these students will learn figurative language - AND we’ll have fun while we do it! 👍🏼
