Happened to be in St Monans today when this beautiful memorial was opened to commemorate the loss of local sailors in a storm 150 years ago. The names of those lost are recorded as is the number of women left widowed and children left fatherless.

Great visit to the Signal Tower Museum in Arbroath. Fascinating displays and friendly, helpful staff. The kids loved it, the adults loved it and even the dog was welcomed in. @angusalive

Great birthday present - tickets to see @RevRichardColes at @edbookfest Interesting and entertaining in equal measure - the audience gave a very polite Edinburgh groan when told the hour was up!

Excited to hear that Barbara Henderson is coming to Edinburgh soon. Can’t wait to hear about the new book and I bet she has got some cool props as well. @cargilfield pupils have really enjoyed meeting Barbara on her previous trips and I know this event will be brilliant.

Fascinating and moving display in the @McManusDundee about the Rae brothers, whose “extreme gallantry” during World War Two was recognised with four Military Crosses. All four brothers were educated @cargilfield

When L. D. Lapinski visited our school she told us all about Kick Flip. One of our pupils has been patiently waiting for it to be published ever since. This morning he came running in to show me his copy and apparently it is even better than he hoped. @HachetteKids

Last term Form 4 went to a brilliant author event with @Pamela_Butchart at @stgeorgesedin They had a great time and lots of them have giggled their way through the book. The word has gone out and now kids from other year groups are really enjoying it too.

Really enjoyed listening to Sophy Roberts talking about the story, the places and the people that led to her writing this intriguing account of C19th Indian elephants being taken to Africa. Thank you @ToppingsEdin for another brilliant event.

Fascinating to find out more about these books (whose green colour was achieved with arsenic) and how they can be identified. @MuseumsUniStA

When you think you’ve read everything someone published and then you find an out of print book in a charity shop. Happy reading day!

A common site in our library this term after @Eviewriter Yvonne Banham delivered a brilliant writing workshop to our Form 8 pupils. This is the second deliciously creepy book about Delores Mackenzie set right here In Edinburgh.

I’ve started the school year by reading this gorgeous book by @crowehoho to the Pre Prep children. They love spotting all the ways the book is changed as it passes through the hands and homes of readers. They really like the idea that they will be part of the story of books.
