We are all loaded up and setting out to the @IWKHealth hospital with a trailer full of toys. The 6th year of our toy drive was the most successful yet. Approximately $25,000 in toys and gift cards for the kids and families. Thanks to all who gave and supported us.

The beginning of our 7th annual toy drive for the IWK Hospital in Halifax NS is near. We collect new toys and gift cards to help parents and their kids during their stay in hospital. If you want to donate, see the poster below. All donations go directly to the hospital.

Hard to believe my 1st born is off to grade 7 next year. She loved her time in elementary. Now on to junior high next year.

Today is grow tower clean out at @ssrsbngrhs. The roots throughout the entire tower are insane. They go the full height of the tower to the water below. Next year, strawberries are on the grow list. Stay tuned for what else we try. @ByronButt @brilliant_labs @SSRCE_NS

Wishing my dad a happy #FathersDay in heaven. We lost him too soon to Farmer’s Lung. He was a hard working man who loved his family (especially his grandkids) and his farm. We miss him dearly.

Tomorrow, brave men & women will battle fires in 30+ degree temperatures while wearing heavy gear, carrying even heavier equipment while risking their lives in an unwavering attempt to push back an unrelenting force but sure, tell us more about how the ban is so unfair.

Thank you to Wendy and Danielle for donating more fruit trees to our @ssrsbngrhs orchard. These Russet and Red Delicious were added to the Macintosh as well as pear, plum, and cherries we planted earlier. Our lilac, raspberry, and rhododendron are growing too. @SSRCE_NS

At @ssrsbngrhs, we have been experimenting with different growing methods such as hydroponics tower, light tents, traditional grow lights, and window light. Our tomatoes in the grow tent from @brilliant_labs and @ByronButt has even began producing fruit. So neat.

Last day with our @ssrsbngrhs ducklings. They are off to their new farm. It was a great learning experience for all again this year. We will do it again next school year. See you later Moby Duck, James Pond, Duck Norris, Quack Sparrow, and Cheese and Quackers. #handsonlearning

The grass may be long but we can see our Liberation Tulips at @ssrsbngrhs. These were sent to us from the Netherlands years ago to commemorate the Liberation of the Netherlands by Canadian forces. My grandfather was a tank driver with the 8th Hussars and one of those liberators.

The @ssrsbngrhs grow tower continues to impress. Less than two weeks of growth. Also, we are seeing lots of hot and sweet pepper growth as well as tomatoes under the traditional classroom grow lights. @brilliant_labs @ByronButt @SSRCE_NS #handsonlearning

The tomatoes have taken off in our classroom grow tent. Students wanted to try seeding the whole felt bag to see it they would grow. We will thin these out and repot now. Thanks to @brilliant_labs and @ByronButt for providing us with this year round growing opportunity.
