The closest competition we’ve EVER had this year, so much fun seeing how hard these kiddos worked and how engaged they were. Here’s the reaction from our championship class! #STEM #ProudToBeLB

Round 3: Strategy is very important here. Trying to collect points by getting to as many index cards as possible. The twist is that our coders can start anywhere on the “trunk” of the map. Since this is the championship, all five team scores count towards the class score! #STEM

Some of our third grade engineers did an amazing Lego rendition of East School!

Round 2: Students need to stay on the tape around the course. If the Dash flashes the color of the paper and its *completely* inside that color, teams earn bonus points! Top 3 Teams score. With a possible 35 points per team, there are plenty of ways to catch up! #STEM

At the end of Round 1, we have a three way tie for first! Three classes with perfect 50s, but everybody is still in it!

From “Peak Performance” by Brad Stulberg and Steve Magness: Looking for the sweet spot, “any less of a challenge…is too easy and not stressful enough as a stimulus for growth”. A screaming endorsement for thoughtful differentiation

Reflecting on this graphic from Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, feels like there’s a *lot* to take away here for education in general and STEM specifically!

Round 1: Students need to follow the tape and push the cup into the square target. The top two scoring teams count towards their class score! (Max 50 points) It’s pretty simple, but they have to pay attention to the details, especially their cup and bot placement at the start!
