Yes Ian, I remember those days so well, BMW started those events, they were way ahead in marketing. Such fun and meeting so many people.

Being in USA right now and Covid still being a concern back in UK , I have been so depressed I couldn’t be at Goodwood this last weekend. To see and drive those wonderful Porsches from our life and miss the DB Trophy race,Would have been magnificent, I hope it was enjoyed by all.

My only world championship point was there for 6th in 1970 in the Surtees TS7, fabulous car, like an F2. Emerson won. Just a wonderful circuit with such enthusiasm from fans.!

We had such amusing and colourful times together on and off the track all over the world, such a genuine person but above all so versatile on bikes and in F1, plus Sportscars. Even drove with him at Le Mans, what a tragedy for Davey and Pauline, he will never be forgotten.

Could be but didnt do many 5000 races early on. But I did win in a Penske F1 car in British F1 ????

The 962 was 10 years after 917, so amazingly different, ground effect improved the whole handling of the car, just so much quicker so that we didnt compare although I believe I was the only team driver that had driven both!
