In order to host Taste of Minnesota, the following road closures will be in place Downtown for July 5th and 6th:.-Nicollet Mall will be closed from S 4th St to Washington Ave.-S 3rd St from Hennepin Ave to S 1st Ave.-Washington Ave from Hennepin to S 1st Ave.

Roadways will be limited to bikes and pedestrians only on West Bde Make Ska Pkwy between Xerxes Ave S and Richfield Rd, and on East Bde Make Ska Pkwy between Lake St and West 36th St.

Two corridor closures will be happening this weekend that will impact traffic in Ward 7. Starting tonight through Sunday morning, vehicles will be restricted on East and West Bde Maka Ska Parkway to reduce unwanted activity ahead of the holiday weekend. 1/4.

It is also worth noting that there are concerns of extreme weather this weekend. Stay up to date with weather alerts by signing up for the City's emergency alert system: 4/4.

Use 311 for non-emergencies. People can make noise and fireworks complaints through:.-The 311 app.-Online: -Texting “fireworks” to 311898 to report on the City’s website.-By calling 311 during business hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. 3/4.

Call 911 when:.-Someone needs medical attention. -Fireworks are directed at people or property. -Fireworks start a fire or cause smoldering. -Children are using fireworks unsupervised. 2/4.

As we head into the 4th of July weekend, the City wants to remind residents of when to call 911 vs 311 in regard to fireworks. 1/4.

- Similarly, with an allocation of $25,000, the Lake Street Council will provide one-on-one technical support to up to 50 Uptown businesses. Their services will be in a variety of different languages such as English, Spanish, and Somali.

The Business Technical Assistance Program (BTAP) will support:.- With $25,000, JLLB Media will do one-on-one support to business owners on marketing, communications, and digital advertising.

- The Uptown Association will use the $20,000 awarded to develop a digital hub for events and community updates that will feature business directories, community calendars, and practical information.

- The Lowry Hill Neighborhood Association was awarded $30,000 for “Holidays on Hennepin”, a month-long celebration in December that will promote business, implements street decorations, and digital advertising.

- The IFRI_TRYV (a non-profit dedicated to improving stability for underrepresented BIPOC businesses) will receive $15,000 to help illustrate visibility campaigns on multimedia storytelling and business trail maps.

The Business District Support grant will support:.- The @EastIslesMPLS facilitating the Uptown Farmers Market with an allocation of $35,000. This includes local vendors, food trucks, and live music, and is designed to bring sustainable opportunities to high pedestrian spaces.

I made sure that the border would extend into Lowry Hill to support the businesses impacted by construction this season. As you can see, City Departments worked very quickly to get this money out the door and it is already being put to great use to continue revitalizing Uptown.

In the 2025 Budget, we appropriated $100,000 for the Great Streets Business District Support (BDS) and $50,000 in Business Technical Assistance Program (BTAP) to support Uptown specific projects.

I’m so pleased to congratulate @LHNA and @EastIslesMPLS on their successful applications to our Business District Support grant program. The Uptown Farmers Market and Holidays on Hennepin will greatly benefit the small businesses of Hennepin Ave and our Uptown community at large.
