People just don’t engage with the mechanics like they think they do, because it’s the same with FF16. They complain that enemies are sponges, but when you actually watch their gameplay they’re just spamming attack and cooldown dumping without any thought. They’re not weaving in
Exactly what MaxDood has been saying, there’s a portion of players who barely engage with a game’s combat systems. They spam basic attacks, follow on-screen prompts, and coast through the entire experience, then turn around and complain that enemies feel like damage sponges.

This already reminds me of other superhero shows I love that do their utmost to subvert expectations of what superhero media should be or has been. This is also that, and so far it’s just really fun, interesting, and engaging. Can’t wait to play more this weekend!
