Thread 4 Women 1 - The Shafii madhab & other scholars: it is recommended for women to pray in congregation. 2 - Hadiths show women prayed in congregation during the time of the Prophet pbuh. 3 - The wife of Umar RA went to the mosque regardless of whether or not Umar RA approved.

4 - Women receive the same rewards of praying in congregation as men do. 5 - They also receive additional reward if they pray at home because not every woman has the time to go to congregation. 6 - The hadith of the Prophet pbuh stating to never prevent women from going.

2) Regarding a congregation: There were two rows of men and one row of women, or two rows of women and one row of men (the narrator is doubtful).

Asma' bint Yazid (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed through the mosque one day and there was a group of women (about ten of them) sitting in the mosque. He raised his hand to offer greetings. [At- Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hasan]

Aisha RA attending eclipse prayer. Which is not an obligatory prayer. Narrated Aisha: The Prophet (ﷺ) led us and performed four bowing in two rak`at during the solar eclipse and the first rak`a was longer.

3 - Ibn Umar narrated:”One of the wives of Umar (bin Al-Khattab) used to offer the Fajr and the 'Isha' prayer in congregation in the Mosque. She was asked why she had come out for the prayer as she knew that Umar disliked it, and he has great ghaira (self-respect).

She replied, "What prevents him from stopping me from this act?" The other replied, "The statement of Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) : 'Do not stop Allah's women-slave from going to Allah s Mosques' prevents him."{Bukhari&muslim}.

4 - Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Prayer in congregation is better than prayer alone by twenty seven degrees. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 619, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi.

Ibn Hazm writes: وَهَذَا عُمُومٌ لَا يَجُوزُ أَنْ يُخَصَّ مِنْهُ النِّسَاءُ مِنْ غَيْرِهِنَّ This tradition is general in meaning. It is not permissible to exclude women from it. Source: al-Muḥallá 3/112

Abu Hamid said: It is recommended for men to pray in congregation and it is recommended for women to pray in congregation, whether it is an obligatory or voluntary prayer. Source: al-Majmūʻ Sharḥ al-Muhadhab 4/199

5 - It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allah ibn Mas’ood that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “A woman’s prayer in her room is better than her prayer in her courtyard, and her prayer in her cabinet is better than her prayer in her room.”

(Narrated by Abu Dawood, 570; al-Tirmidhi, 1173. This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Albani in Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 1/136).

A thing to note though: going to the mosque is more than just offering your Salah in congregation. It is also a way to meet other religious people, listen to sermons, feel religiously inspired, seeking support from your community, mosque lessons and events, etc.

6 - Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: لَا تَمْنَعُوا النِّسَاءَ حُظُوظَهُنَّ مِنْ الْمَسَاجِدِ إِذَا اسْتَأْذَنُوكُمْ Do not prevent women from their share of the mosques if they seek your permission.

Ibn Hazm writes: If a free woman or maid servant asks permission from her husband or her master to attend prayer in the mosque, then it is an obligation upon him to permit her. Source: al-Muḥallá 3/104

Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: لَوْ تَرَكْنَا هَذَا الْبَابَ لِلنِّسَاءِ It would be better if you had left this door to the mosque for women.

Umm Salamah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would end prayer with salutations of peace and remain in his place for a while. The Prophet would end prayer and the women would depart to enter their homes before he would depart. Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 812

Since the concern is "oh women should know the rulings", then here were both rulings, Hadiths and opinions that not only permit women to go to congregation but also show it is a GOOD thing.
