families are now sat at home, losing education, work and mental health.
Massive kudos to schools for remaining positive and professional, but this is beyond frustrating.
After being back over a week, I can officially say that schools are being failed.
We have opened fully, we have welcomed children back, we have put in the structures, routines and expectations in line with guidance. We have created action plans, rotas, risk
assessments. We have asked the impossible of our anxious staff & we have asked for more trust than ever before from our families. Yet, track and trace does NOT work,testing site availability in localities do NOT work,postal tests are NON-EXISTENT.God knows how many perfectly fine
@ModernCassie
โYeah weโre one of those families- third day in isolation awaiting results from youngest. Rest of us no symptoms. One headteacher and another class teacher, increasing the strain on our colleagues through our absence. Itโs not working.
@ModernCassie
Me, daughter apparently was positive, second test 3 days later negative. 2 children not back at school and me, sitting here trying to prove school needs me by sending out emails to staff who are working so hard, because I have to isolate , no symptoms, negative test, but hey ho.
@ModernCassie
I work in a school, my eldest attends the local primary and came down with a cough on Saturday, we struggled to get a test but managed to on Sunday, only just got the neg results through at half three on a Friday.... week off school and work...
@ModernCassie
Yep track and trace and the ability for people to get tested and get results back needs sorting NOW. We have tests sent on Tuesday that we are still awaiting results for. Can't plan for next week properly without knowing if a bubble may need to be sent home. So frustrating ๐ท
@ModernCassie
@mini_lebowski
Went back to work on Monday in on Tuesday sent home on Wednesday awaiting test results told cant go back to the results come back. Still waiting.
@ModernCassie
My current situation. Been trying to get a test for 24hours & it's proving impossible. No drive or walk through sites with appointments and no home kits available at all. So contradictory to what the Gov let you believe.
So disappointed for me, my workplace and my children.
@ModernCassie
Well said Cassie. Utterly disgraceful. Indy SAGE and others have said from the outset that effective TTI needed to be in place before we released lockdown.
@ModernCassie
100% agree - weโll said. All the hard work everyone has put in to get schools up and running - and all the faith the children and parents have shown to get attendance up to 90%. Yet itโs in the back of everyoneโs mind that without and track and trace the risk remains high.
@ModernCassie
Thank you for saying this Cassie, I could not agree more. We have been failed, our staff failed, our families failed and our pupils failed. This government should be ashamed at the betrayal they have presided over.
@ModernCassie
I feel for you Cassie. It must be so frustrating. I can offer nothing constructive by way of response but just wanted to say Iโm sure your families appreciate all youโre doing and huge respect to you for your strength and leadership. Your pupils are lucky to have you.
@ModernCassie
Absolutely, schools and staff are doing a brilliant and thankless job. I dont get why tests cannot be available through gp surgeries now.
@ModernCassie
Yes, I found this. I am a teacher, I felt ill on Tuesday and tried to get a local test, I was given the options of Lecister or Aberdeen (from Merseyside). I applied for a postal test which took 3 days to come, then couldn't register it online because the site was too busy ๐ฆ
