Forests are a powerful tool for protecting water. In Pine County, foresters with the local SWCD are expanding forest stewardship in the Snake River Watershed to improve water quality. By implementing forest management practices, water quality will improve!

Jim Birkholz is something of a conservation legend in Chisago County. After spending years working for the @MNBWSR, Birkholz is still known for his influence on farming and natural resources – and for his family’s delicious, Minnesota-grown apples. 🍎.

Hooray for planting more trees in Minnesota! 🌱 Many SWCDs host yearly tree seedling sales, offering them an opportunity to both improve habitat and water quality throughout their counties and grow relationships with private landowner. Read more:

Every day is Earth Day when you’re an SWCD! In April, conservation districts around Minnesota celebrated Earth Day by hosting sapling giveaways, planting trees, hosting conservation workshops and more. 🌳

SWCD leaders from across Minnesota gathered in Salt Lake City for the @NACDconserve Annual Meeting. Attendees connected with peers from across the country and learned new ideas on how to cultivate our conservation efforts here in Minnesota!

Thank you again to all of our members who gathered in support of SWCD Aid at the Capitol last month! As a result, nine additional co-authors have signed on to our House bill, a great sign of momentum for SWCDs.

Our members were energized and ready to have conversations with lawmakers yesterday about the importance of SWCDs and our unique role in conservation!

Our SWCDs are making waves across Minnesota! 🌊. Le Sueur County recently received three different Clean Water Fund grants from @MNBWSR to better manage and study sub-watersheds, stream erosion and industrial wells.
