Canada’s official languages are a cornerstone of our legal system. On #OLDay, we reaffirm the importance of English and French in ensuring meaningful, equitable access to justice in the official language of one’s choice.
English and French are Canada’s official languages and their equal status is protected under the Constitution and the Official Languages Act. This means that everyone in Canada can access federal institutions, including federal courts, in the official language of their choice.
