It’s busy in the kitchen during the holiday season! Which is why it is so important to remember kitchen safety: • Stay in the kitchen while cooking. • Keep flammable items away from the stove. • Install smoke alarms on every level of your home. Be mindful and stay alert!👨‍🍳

Who doesn’t love a festive smelling holiday candle?🕯 Candle Safety: • Use flameless candles if possible. • If using real candles, place them in sturdy holders,12 inches from anything flammable. • Store matches and lighters out of reach of kids and pets.

The weather outside may be frightful and the space heater inside feels delightful, but don’t forget about the importance of heating safety!❄️ Winter Heating Safety: • Keep space heaters 3 feet (1 meter) from anything flammable. • Never leave heaters unattended.

Have an extra set of lights to hang a little too far away from the wall plug?🔌 Only use extension cords as a temporary connection. Make sure cords never go under rugs as this can cause damage to the cord and cause a fire.

Ring in the new year safely! In the event of a fire make sure to choose a meeting place outside, a safe distance from your home. Examples: • A tree 🌳 • Streetlight💡 • Neighbour’s home🏠 In case of fire, everyone should go directly to this meeting place to be accounted for.
